Become a Mentor

Are you an experienced entrepreneur or a business professional with knowledge to share? Become a mentor and help startups to reach success and stay updated by being in touch with the most promising university talents

The University Startup World Cup is organized by Venture Cup which has a large, established mentor program for university startups. The mentor program consists of talented business people who inspire and coach university startups in the process of turning business ideas to successful businesses.

By joining the program you get the chance to work with some of the world’s most promising student startups. As a mentor in Venture Cup’s Mentor Program, you will discuss and develop new ideas and business cases with Danish and international teams of student entrepreneurs and help the next generation achieve success.

Expectations & Requirements

  • Be a successful entrepreneur or have more than 4 years of relevant business experience
  • Allocate at least 2 hours of mentoring each month during the mentoring period
  • Sign a non-disclosure agreement
  • Give quarterly feedback through Venture Cup’s surveys

As startups develop, the challenges they face change, potentially resulting in a need for a mentor with different expertise. The enrolled teams have access to the mentor program for one year and the possibility to apply for a new/additional expert mentor each quarter.

Benefits of being a mentor

  • Stay updated on the latest and greatest university startups and ideas
  • Gain access to networking and exclusive events
  • Contribute to the startup ecosystem – help the next generation achieve success

Our mentors

I helped them to make sure that the different basics were covered; that marketing, general strategy, flows and processes work together, to make sure they didn’t crack”. Morten is an entrepreneur by heart, he is eager to support fellow entrepreneurs, and he has a clear vision:

My vision is to crack the statistics that show 80% of startups fail within three years.

Morten Hoff Ærsøe, Mentor for LevelUP Co-Founder and Principal Consultant at Renacio ApS
Even though you feel that don’t have much time, it gives you a lot of energy to meet so engaged young entrepreneurs.
Simon Sheard, Mentor for Cook with a local Director at Fonden Allehånde
We had great benefit from it [mentoring] when we started out, we made our mistakes as a startup, so now we want to pay it forward. Pass on some experience to new startups.
Steffen Skovgaard, Mentor for Macellum Co-founder and Executive Director at UNIwise
I would like to see more entrepreneurs succeed and I believe that my experience and lessons learned can help them when building their own business. Moreover, I think that it is very exciting to discuss new ideas and business cases.
Thomas Buss Madsen, COO at Bookboon
Young entrepreneurs need all the help they can get as they embark on their startup journey. I was lucky to get support from advisory boards at an early stage – something which I’m grateful for and would like to pass on.
Peter True, CEO at 1dataplan
